(a)
All salaries are expressed in Hong Kong dollars, calculated at the rate of 16 to the £ sterling.
Basic Salary of $640 a month for 2 Then 6720 a month rising to $1000 a mo by 7 annual increments of $40 a month. 81060 a month rising to $1300 a month b annual increments of $60 a month. There is a strict efficiency bar between $960 and $1000 a month.
(b) Pensionable expatriation pay is admissable for an officer whose home is not normally in the Colony. This is approximately 20% of basis salary and on the minimum of the scale amount to $166.67a month.

A temporary, variable and non-pensional cost of living allowance is also payable.

a married officer with a child or children on the minimum of the scale, this amounts. at prosent to 490 a month. For a married officer without children 80% of the standard allowance is ayable. For an unmarried officer 60% of the allowance is payable. cost of living allowance is payable only while the officer is resident in the Colony.

If available, government quarters are provided and a rent of not more then one seventh of basic salary is deducted.
First Class passages are provided in accorda with Colonial Regulation 81. An officer may required to travel by air when on duty, or whe proceeding to or from leave. The normal tour 4 years, but for an officer with 10 years colonial service and over the gc of 40, the t is 3 years.
The normal leave rate is one day for every seven days resident service, but for an officer with 10 years colonial service and over the age of 40 the leave rate is 2 days fo every 11 days resident service. Local leave is also granted.
The officer is on probation for 3 years after which, if his services are satisfactory he may be confiimed to the permanent and pen- sionable establishment.
